Your Choice.blog

My Introduction post!

A personal development blog, focused on mindset and realistic Positivity.

At first I didn’t really want to label the blog, but at the same time, people need to know what it’s about! I know the above is a little wordy, but I think it needs to be.

Essentially it will be based on peoples mindsets and how mindset is key to personal development. With so much going on in the world right now, it’s important for us all to put focus on ourselves, as it really is up to us to get what we want in life.

The phrase ‘realistic positivity’ is important too. People sometimes set themselves huge goals or targets, only to end up disappointing themselves. Positivity will only work if it’s focused on real and achievable goals… hit one goal, then reach for another, try not to run before you can walk.

There is a big blame game culture right now. It’s too easy for us to blame others or external factors for our own short comings. Your Choice.blog will hopefully give people some hints and tips on how to get the focus back on what is important. Ourselves.

Why do people do what they do?

I really find people interesting. My way of thinking would be fairly analytical, so I ask myself, why did they (or me) choose that option, why are they doing that, why did they say that. Essentially, why do people do what they do?

It’s never intrusive, it’s always just between me and my brain… and occasionally my wife! I’ve used the word a lot already, but WHY is such an important and often underused word, I think. More on that another time!

Forever learning.

I have a thirst for knowledge and learning new things. I would hate to think I would ever get to a stage where ‘I knew it all’. That’s just not possible in my eyes.

I work in retail for close to 20 years now and I’m learning every year. I think it’s one of the keys to happiness, being willing to listen and learn. Writing a blog is a way for me to keep up and continue to learn and hopefully share some ideas along the way!

I love the grind!

I know it’s a bit of a corny saying, but I really enjoy what I do. Working hard at something, not giving up and seeing things work out (sometimes a lot later than you would hope!) is really satisfying.

I hope I get to work until I’m 80 (at least!) because if I do, that means I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and it’s of benefit to someone. Lots of people cannot wait to retire, which is a shame really, it’s almost like wishing your life away. It’s up to us to figure out what makes us happy and to chase it down.

Analyse It...

As I said already, I’m fairly analytical in my thinking. I love seeing things work out, then looking back and piecing together why it worked out.

The same goes for things that don’t work out by the way. That happens more often than not! Just because someone is writing a blog or doing podcasts, does not mean they have it all figured out. I don’t think ‘IT’ can ever fully be figured out, do you?!

Find your philosophy in life.

I’m thankful that I have a pretty strong philosophy in life and feel it works for me. You won’t find me beating a drum saying, ‘do things this way and you will get xyz’, because it doesn’t work like that.

Everyone should find a philosophy in life that works for them and work bloody hard to chase it down. The thing is, that is so much easier said than done. Hopefully this blog can share some ideas along the way. Personal development is a way of life, not a quick fix. Knowing that is a big first step.

Conclusion...well,
'It's your choice'

With everything that goes on in the world, and in our lives, I do wonder about some peoples ways of navigating through things in the future.

I think with all of the noise, some are forgetting that life is ultimately ‘up to you’. Not your parents, siblings, partner, friends or the world!

If you have read this far that’s great, because maybe some of what I’m saying interests you a little. You will see me post twice a week about life in general, growing up, work and business.

I’m not a doctor, or a scientist, I’m just someone who has some thoughts I’d like to put down on paper (or video!). If you think you might be interested in what I have to say, then stay tuned for more while following my social media platforms.
